Why NAMI?

Come be the person who makes powerful software make sense, at a mission that matters. We're the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI). We build MyNAMI, the platform our own staff and more than 700 NAMI State Organizations and Affiliates use to run their work with NAMI and report on the mental health programs they deliver in communities across the country.

As our Product Training & Enablement Specialist, you'll take the knowledge that lives in the heads of our engineers and admins, and in dense technical docs, and turn it into training and guidance that people actually understand and use. Your primary audience is the field: the staff and volunteers at affiliates who need MyNAMI to just work.

What makes this role different: you won't write manuals that sit on a shelf. You'll build short, visual how-to guidance in Guidde, host webinars where affiliates can ask questions live, work side by side with our National Alliance Support Team to see what's actually confusing people, and carry what you learn back to the engineers so the product itself gets better. You'll sit on the engineering team that builds MyNAMI and be the bridge between them and the people who depend on the platform every day.

This full-time position is remote.

Salary Range: $70,000 - $85,000

What You'll Do

  • Turn how MyNAMI actually works into clear training and reference material for non-technical people, starting with the workflows affiliates use most.
  • Build and maintain a library of step-by-step how-to guides and video walkthroughs in Guidde, organized so people find the right answer at the moment they need it.
  • Plan and host regular webinars, office hours, and demos for affiliates and state organizations, including onboarding for new users and walkthroughs of new features.
  • Help affiliates deliver their program data through MyNAMI with confidence, by making the reporting workflows clear and heading off the places people get stuck.
  • Partner with our National Alliance Support Team: align on shared standards, watch the questions that keep coming back, and close those gaps with better guidance.
  • Bring what you hear from the field back to our engineers as clear, prioritized recommendations for improving MyNAMI, and flag where a prompt or guardrail in the tool would steer people right.
  • Stay ahead of platform changes and turn each release into guidance people can use right away.

What Qualifications You'll Bring

  • 2–4 years in training, enablement, learning & development, technical support, or a user-facing software role.
  • Able to explain complex or technical concepts to a non-technical audience. This is the core skill of the role.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and facilitation skills, including comfort hosting webinars for large, distributed audiences.
  • Experience developing documentation and instructional material, grounded in adult-learning or instructional-design fundamentals.
  • Learns and demonstrates complex platforms quickly; general software proficiency.
  • Self-directed and well-organized, with sound project and time management in a remote-first organization.
  • No specific educational background required; relevant experience is what matters.

Nice to have (apply if you meet most)

  • Experience with Guidde or a similar video-based documentation tool (Scribe, Tango, Loom, Articulate 360/Rise, Camtasia).
  • Experience training or supporting a distributed network of affiliates, chapters, or members.
  • Experience working alongside a customer support team, or using support data to improve documentation.
  • Experience bridging engineers and end users, including gathering and organizing user feedback for a product team.
  • A user-experience or instructional-design sensibility, especially for in-product or contextual ("just-in-time") guidance.
  • Familiarity with light adoption analytics.
  • Experience in a nonprofit, association, or mission-driven organization.

Your salary is only one component of the total compensation package. NAMI offers a range of standard and unique benefits that are reviewed annually:
