What is early childhood education?

Early childhood education (ECE) is the education of children from birth to age eight, typically in a setting outside of the home, such as childcare or preschool. This type of education is designed to ensure that all children have an opportunity to develop intellectually, socially, emotionally, and physically to their fullest potential. The goal of early childhood education is to help young children develop the knowledge, skills, and attitudes they will need to succeed in school and life.

Why is early childhood education important?

Early childhood education is an important part of a child’s development. Studies have shown that students who have participated in early childhood programs have better academic achievement throughout their school career. Research has found that early childhood education can have positive effects on a child’s behavior in school, helping to reduce social and emotional issues such as anxiety and depression, as well as increase social and emotional skills. Early childhood education has also been linked to an increased likelihood of completing high school and attending college.
