Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA) is a research and policy nonprofit that discovers and promotes effective solutions to global poverty problems. IPA brings together researchers and decision-makers to design, rigorously evaluate, and refine these solutions and their applications, ensuring that the evidence created is used to improve the lives of the world’s poor. In recent decades, trillions of dollars have been spent on programs designed to reduce global poverty, but clear evidence on which programs succeed is rare, and when evidence does exist, decision-makers often do not know about it. IPA exists to bring together leading researchers and these decision-makers to ensure that the evidence we create leads to tangible impact on the world. Since its founding in 2002, IPA has worked with over 575 leading academics to conduct over 650 evaluations in 51 countries. The Civil Rights Litigation Clearinghouse, a project of the Law School, is seeking a 20-hours-per-week, remote within the United States (if desired) full-stack developer to work on a full-site revamp and additional development projects, for a term-limited (though possibly renewable) two-year appointment. The developer will work on both the front- and back-end of the Clearinghouse, a document and data repository with whose front-end application has over 15,000 public users per month and whose back-end coordinates over 50 student and staff contributors per year. The Clearinghouse is currently in the midst of a migration from existing technology to a new Django web application, and to a new host, using AWS RDS and S3. Responsibilities for the developer will include some system administration, but the majority of the role will be development and refinement of front- and back-end applications, including creating (new) APIs.
